Happiness is a Choice
Yes, happiness is a choice. Why? Because life happens. Things do not always go as planned. You can work hard on a goal only to fall short.
Disappointments can happen at any time. From getting the wrong food in a to-go order to not getting a job you wanted.
Each type of situation you face, no matter how challenging, can either be an excuse to stay negative or another chance to work on your perspective and change your mindset.
Changing your Perspective
Changing your perspective can be challenging. In today’s society, the focus tends to be on the negative. Everywhere you look there is bad news.
To begin the change, you must be willing to find a different way to look at a situation. Of course, you are going to feel the disappointment but you do not have to hold on to it.
Sometimes it takes a conscious effort to pause and breathe. You can begin by noticing how you feel. If you are feeling anxious, stressed, or upset. What are you thinking?
Your thoughts and feelings go hand in hand. You can not have happy grateful thoughts and be angry. If you don’t believe me, try it.
Build the mindset to make Happiness your choice
Choosing to look for the good in any situation will become a way of life over time. No matter how small you can find a positive of some kind to be grateful for.
Practice daily, starting with small disappointments. Enlist others to choose happiness with you. Someone who can help you find the good and won’t let you fall back on a negative mindset.
Choosing happiness is not difficult. It just takes practice and the willingness to surround yourself with others who will support your efforts.
Share the Happiness
One of the biggest blessings I have with choosing happiness. Is the fact that I passed the ability on to my children. Finding the silver lining used to irritate them as children. Now, as adults, it serves them well with the challenges of day-to-day life.
Now it is trickling down to the grandchildren. Happiness is a choice in an imperfect world. I do hope you find some happiness in your day. May your ability to find it grow with each passing day.
I would love to hear from you please, let me know if you applied any of the suggestions above and how they impacted your perspective.
Have a blessed day, y’all.
